Multiple Teeth Replacement with Dental Implants Wausau, WI
There are several situations that might lead to the loss of two or more teeth in a row. Whether the teeth have been lost to gum disease or they have been badly damaged and require extraction, the next step after tooth loss is replacement. At Wanserski Dental Center for Complex Dentistry, we can replace multiple teeth with dental implants.
How Many Teeth Can Be Replaced with Dental Implants?
One of the major benefits of dental implants is just how versatile they can be. You may have a dental implant to replace a single tooth. Implants can also be a great option if you are missing two, three, or even an entire arch of teeth. There are many different multiple tooth implant solutions to meet many different needs.
Implant Bridges
If you are missing several teeth in any area of your mouth, you might be able to replace those teeth with an implant bridge. With this solution, we can use two or more posts to support your section of replacement teeth. Unlike a traditional fixed bridge, there is no need to remove any enamel of the adjacent teeth.
Replacing a Full Arch of Teeth
For those missing an entire arch of teeth, implants are also an excellent option. One of the most common solutions involves the use of 6 to 8 implant posts to support your new teeth. The posts act as anchors that hold the entire arch of 12 to 14 teeth in place. The teeth are fixed permanently to the posts. They look, feel, and act just like your real teeth.
If you have been missing your teeth for a while, you might not have the necessary bone mass to support the 6 to 8 implant posts. Instead of having to undergo a bone graft, which would mean you would have to undergo a surgery before implant surgery, we offer what is called All-on-4. This solution uses only 4 posts to support your arch of new teeth. Like a typical full arch replacement, your teeth are fixed to the implant posts.
Implant Supported Overdentures
Another option for those missing too much bone mass, there are also implant supported overdentures. These solutions are a little different. Instead of having your teeth fixed onto the implant posts, they are removable. There are a couple of ways that this can be done. The first is a bar-retained implant supported overdenture. This solution uses 4 implant posts that have bar attached to them. Your overdentures, or replacement teeth, clip onto this bar. The other option is a ball-retained implant supported overdenture. With this treatment, you have 4 implant posts that have small balls on the ends of them. The overdenture has small holes on the bottom of it that enables the teeth to snap right into place. Because your teeth are removable with implant supported overdentures, you will need to take your teeth out for nightly cleaning.
